Spfld Community Complaint Review Board Seeks Public Input

The Springfield Community Complaint Review Board will be holding a public meeting this Wednesday, December 9, at 5:30pm in Room 220 at City Hall.

According to a press release issued by the Mayor’s Office on Monday, the purpose of the meeting will be to allow public input into proposed changes to the CCRB.

“The public is invited to attend and to offer testimony and suggestions for changes to the CCRB,” read the release.

The Community Complaint Review Board was first empaneled by former Mayor Charles V. Ryan back in 2007. Following the surprise mayoral election victory of then-City Councilor Domenic Sarno, the Ryan-appointed coordinator of the CCRB, Melinda Pellerin-Duck, was dismissed by the new Mayor Sarno, who subsequently installed his Chief of Staff, Denise Jordan, as the new coordinator on a part-time basis.

Then followed months of silence from the Board which eventually stirred up controversy, with some suggesting the CCRB was all but defunct. Jordan later held a press conference in the summer of 2008 to announce a new lineup of Board members.
