In case you missed it, below are some scenes from the Hoop City Art Jazz & Art Festival, held on the weekend of July 4th at the STCC Campus in Springfield, MA. These photos were taken on Saturday afternoon. Click here to check out the story of how the Jazz Fest came to be.

The Springfield Armory Museum was the backdrop for the stage.
The musical lineup on Saturday featured contemporary jazz. The musicians included the Marcus Pitts/Carl Neal Project, David D. Davis, Lin Roundtree, and the Urban Jazz Coalition. On Sunday, traditional jazz was featured with the Charles Langford, E.S.P., Ron Gill, and La Timbistica: The Berklee Latin Jazz All-Stars.
The Festival also featured an assortment of arts and crafts vendors…
Professional photographer Karoun Charkoudian had some patriotic offerings for the occasion.
Springfield mayoral candidate David Parkhurst was at the Festival on Saturday…
As was mayoral candidate and City Councilor Bud Williams (right), seen here with his sidekick, City Councilor Jimmy Ferrera.
Not one to miss out on the fun, here is incumbent Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno (right), shown here with mayoral aide Darryl Moss, center, and mutual friend Robert Jones.
And check out this patriotic pooch, Mr. Magoo, a 6-month-old lab mix, seen here with his equally patriotic owner, Milta.
Wow! Looks like it was a great day in Springfield. Was this event widely publicized? Wish I had known about it before hand – I would have dropped in to hear the music and mingle with my fellow citizens.
Great coverage thanks. I am a teacher at Duggan MS.. Saw your video on the Mill River on youtube.. We are doing some work on the watershed next year.. drop me a line..
Nice Bill. I am not into Jazz music, but that was nice and the pics were great of the festival. Somewhere to go and wander around and relax and enjoy for folks.
The 2010 Festival will be held downtown at two locations: Friday at Stearns Square; and Saturday-Sunday at Court Square in front of City Hall. (On the weekend of the 4th).

Thanks for the pix.
