At The STCC Campus

This video was posted on Friday, September 19th, 2008 and filed under Cities & Towns, Videos.

Checking out the sights at Springfield Technical Community College. This fall, I’m taking a couple of classes there, so I thought I’d do a little tour, similar to the tours I’ve done of other nearby colleges (1. , 2. ). Below are some photos, with a Flickr link to more of them. The photos are followed by a ten-minute video tour of the campus. (Click here for a campus map.)

The Springfield Armory Museum is located to the rear of the campus grounds.

Hi, thanks for th photos- I am applying for Fall but am nervous about the area… does it seem scary, i heard there was a lot of crime there.
    Thanks

I wouldn’t be nervous, Erin. The neighborhood is not the best, but none of the students hang out there, either. Also, lots of news about crime in Springfield is inflated by those who simply do not like the city. The STCC campus is actually enclosed in a fenced in compound – which was formerly an armory and is now a National Historic site (the museum on campus can tell you all about that). There is ample parking, and even if you do end up having to park on one of the lots located off campus, there are shuttle buses constantly running between the lots and campus, so you never need to walk to campus.
