Maureen Turner Speaks

Maureen Turner is a senior writer over at the Valley Advocate, where she covers Springfield news, society and politics – which naturally gives her plenty of juicy material to write about. I’ve long been a fan of her writing – in fact, I remember once telling her how I thought she wasn’t at all like some of the other liberal whackjobs over at the Advocate (hello, Alan Bisbort).

Like most local folks, Turner and I probably have similar views when it comes to a lot of the issues facing Springfield. And – like most other folks – our views tend to diverge more and more the closer we get to Boston and then beyond the borders of Massachusetts.

This morning on Bax & O’Brien, fans of her writing also got to listen to her for the first time on that show. You can check out the audio clips of her appearance on the Bax & O’Brien audio archives page, here (look to the right-hand column, August 26). You can also listen in here (part one) and here (part two).

  1. Maureen Turner is always direct and to the point and her stroies reflect that. She does not take sides and reports the story. I have not always agreed with her on each issue that we have spoken on but I can tell you she has always been fair and balanced in her reporting. Especially when we disagree. Her reporting shines a light onto areas that need to be discussed. She does a professional job.

  2. Up In Smoke by Maureen Turner was interesting and thorough. That along with the Forbes Dying Cities article should be a wakeup call to local leaders. It should awaken us voters as well. We need to elect people who are aggressive and astute at economic development.
