HILLARY! Comes to Springfield

All of Springfield, it seemed, was in a hot lather over presidential candidate Hillary! Clinton’s quick visit to Springfield College yesterday. Something like 5,000 people flocked to the college’s Blake Arena to catch a glimpse of Bubba’s wife. I decided to go to my brother’s house for lunch, instead – and it was probably a wise move, since as things turned out, about 2,000 or more people were left out in the cold, waiting in line in vain.

Masslive’s Kristen Beam captured the moment with some photos and an audio clip over at The Fray blog. Meanwhile, just about every local blog in the region had something to say about her Hillaryness coming by to see little ol’ us. Urban Compass got some press in from both Springfield and Hartford, CT, where Hillary! had visited before swinging up here. And the “In the Valley” blog managed to get both photos and a couple of quick videos of some folks standing in long lines along Alden Street.

Silly people. They should have just had lunch at their brother’s, like me, and listened to The Fray’s audio clip and read about Hillary’s! speech the next day.

In all political truth, Hillary! didn’t visit Springfield yesterday because she loves us all so much. This pit stop was more of an ass-pat to U.S. Representative Richard Neal, who has thrown in his allegiance to Hillary! this election year – unlike the other two shmucks from Massachusetts who dissed their Senate colleague from New York.

Way to go, Richie!

Or should we practice calling you Mr. Ambassador?

IN OTHER ELECTION NEWS….

Senator Eddie Kennedy officially endorsed Barack Obama on Monday.

Dear Edward, thank you for all of your support throughout the Nineties. Billy truly appreciates your unyielding loyalty during that time.

– Sincerely, Hillary.

PS: Fuck you.”

And on the Republican side, in a sign that this campaign season may really be getting ugly, Mitt Romney and John McCain both called each other liberals!

Insanity, I tell you. Sheer insanity.

  3. Sooo…how do you *really* feel about Hillary?

It was more like a cold shower than a hot lather!

  4. hmmm…I felt the same way about Hillary’s visit to Springfield. And couldn’t think of a reason to fight the traffic to even *try* to see someone I really don’t care about. She was also out in Hartford, so this was a kind of “where can I kill some time” stop as well.
